New Development – Work begins on Thistle Stone Cottages Mortehoe North Devon
07 June 2007
The site was an old Garage and is now in the process of demolition. The site has planning consent for 5 Dwellings in which Charterwell Homes intend to construct out of natural stone to blend in with the traditional character of the village. The properties will be arranged around a parking courtyard area and consist of:
2 No. 4 Bedroom Cottages
1 No. 3/4 bedroom Cottage
2 No. 2 bedroom Cottages
Mortehoe is a coastal village in a very close proximity to some of the countries most beautiful beaches. The village has a country feel with traditional buildings constructed from the original Morte slate and a friendly warm and welcoming community.
Charterwell Homes intention was to call the development something with meaning to the village rather than a generic housing scheme name. It was finally decided after much research the development would be named after the vessel ‘Thistle’ which went down just off the coast of the Morte bay in 1859.
