In Search Of Santa
23 December 2007

Charterwell Homes have installed a 3.3kw search light on top of its landmark building Granville Point overlooking Ilfracombe seafront and coast. The light has 3 beams and will be visible up to 7 kilometres away. Charterwell is keen to ensure that Santa Clause has a clear run into Ilfracombe on his annual travels to deliver presents to the children of the world.
The light will also support the town in its celebration of Christmas.
Charterwell Homes is currently converting Granville point into 14 luxury apartments. This late Victorian building stands 7 storeys high and is located adjacent to the coast with 360 degree aspect. Andy Ley spokesman for Charterwell Homes says “The position and height of our building right on the headland is an ideal spot for such a searchlight. Santa Clause will have a clear view of the beam from whichever direction he chooses to arrive into Ilfracombe. We are pleased that we can play our part in helping to ensure the children of our town receive their presents on time. As a precaution the Civil Aviation Authority has been notified.”
